Who we are and what makes us special

We, the staff of the Fritz Reuter Literature Museum, are the guardians of valuable artefacts from over two hundred and fifty years of Mecklenburg history and art.
Our collection focuses on Fritz Reuter and other Low German writers, the works of Ernst Lübbert and the history of Reuter’s home town of Stavenhagen.
We have been a memorial to the Low German poet, Fritz Reuter, for more than 100 years now
We have been a recognised research centre for both his life and work and that of other Low German authors since 1960.
We are the cultural beacon in the region.

By developing and implementing a modern museum management system, we work in a professional and structured manner.

The Fritz Reuter Literature Museum also fulfils its educational mission as a place of remembrance, learning and aesthetic experiences. With this in mind, close collaboration with kindergartens, schools and educational institutions is of great importance to us.
