What we are proud of<\/h3>\n

  • We, the staff of the Fritz Reuter Literature Museum, are the guardians of valuable artefacts from over two hundred and fifty years of Mecklenburg history and art.<\/li>\n
  • Our collection focuses on Fritz Reuter and other Low German writers, the works of Ernst L\u00fcbbert and the history of Reuter\u2019s home town of Stavenhagen.<\/li>\n
  • We have been a memorial to the Low German poet, Fritz Reuter, for more than 100 years now<\/li>\n
  • We have been a recognised research centre for both his life and work and that of other Low German authors since 1960.

      • With our archives, collections and academic library, we are a cornerstone of the cultural identity of the Reuter\u2019s home town of Stavenhagen and the history of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania.<\/li>\n

      • In the house where he was born, we present the creative work of the internationally renowned Low German poet via a wide range of media.<\/li>\n

        • We view the author, Fritz Reuter, and his work in the context of the great realist storytellers of the 19th century in Europe and overseas.<\/li>\n
        • We are the driving force behind Low German language preservation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          How we work<\/h3>\n

          • We act locally as a public space for all citizens and are closely linked to the development of the Reuterstadt Stavenhagen.<\/li>\n
          • With contemporary cultural presentations and events, we offer an attractive cultural and academic centre for the region.<\/li>\n
          • Our research is an important building block in the historical study of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the entire Low German region and also has an international impact.<\/li>\n
          • Based on effective youth development work, we are an attractive location for those interested in culture, science and history.<\/li>\n
          • We see ourselves as a strong partner for the cultural and economic development of the Stavenhagen region and the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.<\/li>\n
          • We face the particular challenge of communicating Low German as a minority language worthy of protection in a way that is appropriate for the target group.<\/li>\n

            • As a research centre, we offer scholars an attractive space in which to undertake their work.<\/li>\n
            • We work together with universities and other research institutions.<\/li>\n
            • The Fritz Reuter Literature Museum also fulfils its educational mission as a place of remembrance, learning and aesthetic experiences. With this in mind, close collaboration with kindergartens, schools and educational institutions is of great importance to us.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                • We are developing Stavenhagen into the cultural metropolis of Low German.<\/li>\n
                • A holistic digitisation strategy is not only making our collections and depots digitally accessible, but is also communicating our offerings to the public via a variety of media channels.<\/li>\n
